Youri Tielemans has announced he is leaving Leicester.

The 26-year-old moved to Leicester from Monaco in 2019, but his contract expires this summer. His exit follows Leicester’s relegation. He posted on Instagram, “I’m bidding farewell to this incredible club.” I will always be appreciative of your help.

The Belgian international captured both the Community Shield and the FA Cup during his four and a half years with the Foxes, scoring the game-winning goal against Chelsea.

However, he is now due to become a free agent, which heralds the beginning of a transfer story in which a number of teams are sure to express interest in him.

‘Dear Leicester City fans, after 4.5 amazing years and with a lot of thanks I’m waving farewell to this incredible club,’ Tielemans wrote in a moving video.

You hugged me with your warmth and passion the moment I stepped foot here.

“Victory and triumph, love, hope, even devastation. Together, we’ve experienced many priceless experiences. I will always be appreciative of your unflinching support.

Thank you for providing a home for my family and myself, Khun Top, board, staff, players, and supporters.

The inability to secure their survival in the final weeks of the season increased the likelihood of Tielemans leaving Leicester, and that has indeed happened. He initially joined the club on loan from Monaco in January 2019 and then signed permanently in a club record £32 million deal, impressing right from the start.

In 2021, Tielemans was presented with a new contract offer, but he delayed signing it as he hoped to join a club that could provide him with Champions League football. Arsenal has been interested in him for a long time, and Liverpool is the latest team to be associated with him.

Additionally, Tielemans’ teammate James Maddison is also anticipated to depart from Leicester.
